Net / Gross
Formula: gross = net x (1 + rate); net = gross / (1 + rate).
Selling price from wanted margin
Formula: price = cost / (1 - margin). Margin is a share of the selling price, not the markup.
Margin & markup
Formula: margin = (price - cost) / price; markup = (price - cost) / cost.
Discount
Formula: deduction = amount x percent; to pay = amount - deduction.
Hourly rate
Formula: (income + costs) / (weeks x hours x billable share). Before tax and pension - orientation only.
Break-even
Formula: fixed costs / (price - variable cost), rounded up.
