Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate working hours?
End of work minus start of work minus break. Example: 8:00 to 16:30 is 8 hours 30 minutes, minus a 30-minute break is 8 hours.
How do I convert hours and minutes into a decimal?
Divide the minutes by 60. 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours. 8 hours 30 minutes is 8.5 hours. This is how you calculate with an hourly wage.
How much break is required?
For more than 6 hours of work at least 30 minutes, for more than 9 hours at least 45 minutes. The calculator points this out.
How long may I work per day?
Normally 8 hours, up to 10 hours with compensation. More is not allowed under the German Working Hours Act.
