Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a monthly salary into an hourly wage?
Gross salary divided by the hours per month. Hours per month are weekly hours times 52, divided by 12. Example: 3,500 € at 40 weekly hours is 173.33 hours per month, so 20.19 € per hour.
Why not just multiply by 4 weeks?
A year has 52 weeks but only 12 months, so a month has 4.33 weeks on average. Using 4 weeks would make the hourly wage too high.
Is this the pay after deductions?
No. The calculator works with gross amounts, before wage tax and social contributions. What is left net depends on your tax class and other details.
What is the minimum wage?
The statutory minimum wage in Germany is 13.90 € gross per hour in 2026. The calculator warns you if your hourly wage is below it.
